The Wargrave Family.

The Partnership is made up of local residents with support from Torus Foundation as our Local Trusted Organisation that looks after our funding and any obligations we have.

Meet our Team.

Wargrave Big Local Partnership members have a good range of knowledge and skills and respect for each other.

Louise Forshaw

Chair of the Partnership and
Chair of the Healthier subgroup

How long have you been involved with Big Local?

I have been involved on and off with Big Local for the past seven years and I have been the Chair for the last four years.

Why did you get involved?

I got involved because I wanted to see lasting improvements to my hometown, the place where I live and my family live. The million pounds award is an opportunity to change residents lives for the better and to help make Wargrave a safe and welcoming area for all.

How does your involvement make you feel?

I feel really proud to be the Chairperson of the Partnership and to have been part of decisions that have brought help and support to Wargrave residents right in the heart of our community. Through our employment programmes and our efforts to improve health and well-being all on the doorstep in Wargrave. On a personal level I have learnt a lot, gained new skills and increased my own self confidence.

Jeanne Dentith

Vice-Chair of the Partnership and
Chair of the Stronger subgroup

How long have you been involved with Big Local?

I joined the Partnership when I took early retirement from my job in 2015.

Why did you get involved?

I felt that I wanted to put something back into a community that I had lived in for many years.
Since becoming the vice-chair I have had the opportunity to take part in the Community Leadership Academy which was interesting and informative. I hope to use my new skills to be a community champion and serve my local area to the best of my ability.

How does your involvement make you feel?

Being part of Big Local makes me feel proud and it’s a privilege to work with such a dedicated group of people.

Amanda

How long have you been involved with Big Local?

I got involved about 18 months ago

Why did you get involved?

I moved into the area just before COVID hit and had always intended to try and give something back to my new home area, get to know the area and people better.

How does your involvement make you feel?

WBL I felt gave me that opportunity and since doing so I’m now learning more each month about my home area, it’s needs and the people within. That makes me feel increasingly part of the community and that I made a good choice for my home.

Margaret Howlett

How long have you been involved with Big Local?

I have been in Big Local since Day 1 – however long ago that was!

Why did you get involved?

I joined hoping to make Wargrave a better place and also to obtain locally the Council things, etc., that were previously only available by travelling to St Helens.

How does your involvement make you feel?

I have made some lovely friendships and been to good events, & enjoyed helping at some of them. I just feel hindered now by my age and health problems but try to do what I can. Luckily we have Louise & Jeanne to do the hard complicated work which I have no desire to do any more. Managing the bank account for Hub money is about my limit. I would rather leave the hard stuff to the younger ones !

Mandie

How long have you been involved with Big Local?

I have been involved with Big Local for just over a year now and find it very interesting and I am hoping that I can do much more to become involved

Why did you get involved?

I originally became involved for no other reason than I lived in the Wargrave area, and I’d heard of it through Sarah!! I felt I could help, and I like meeting new people!!

How does your involvement make you feel?

Now I am a part of the Big Local I feel that I have met many new friends. I also feel very lacking in many respects as my memory and energy problems have become worse recently. Still, I shall carry on as best as I can!
